Please read the Install.htm file before installing and
follow the directions carefully. This Setup program
will walk you through installation. You will need to use the
Start Test feature of WinSafe98 if another program installs
any Hidden or Read Only Files in the future.
If a Msdos window stays open during the test or setup
please close it and continue. Watch the task bar for Msdos
Windows
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>WAIT TIME<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
WAIT TIME is a device that allows you to control the amount
of time that Winsafe starts after boot up of Windows. This is
needed in order for WinSafe to check the Registry backup size.
Other programs may be using the Registry at bootup and do not
allow you to control when they boot. Since WinSafe monitors the
Registry you want WinSafe to check the backup copy and the
Registry after all other programs are finished with it.
WinSafe98 cannot read files that are in use. If you receive an
error notice during startup (bootup) after installing new programs
or after setting up WinSafe98, you may need to allow WinSafe98 to
adjust the wait time. If the File is not the Registry You will
need to adjust the Wait yourself.
WinSafe will automatically adjust the wait time. This process
can take up to as many as 10 reboots to Windows to set correctly.
If you have IE.40 installed on your system you can set the Wait
Time to 30 to start off This will hasten the process. If you do not
have IE.40 but do have a zip drive that is not always connected
set the Wait Time to 20 to start off
If Winsafe cannot adjust the wait time WinSafe will then tell you
to look for other problems.
A value of less then 5 may cause WinSafe98 not to be able to read
the Registry. You will get a message box at EVERY bootup that the
Registry has changed. Click on Check Registry Size.
If you get a message box that an error has occured then the Wait
Time is to low and Winsafe will adjust it on the next boot up.
Increasing the number will cause a longer wait time and decreasing
it will shorten wait time. WinSafe98 must wait till the Registry is
loaded and all programs
(ie: virus scanners) have started booting into Windows.
